Cocurricular & Extracuricular Activities At SUSIBT, learning continues outside the classrooms through a variety of students' activities, where the students get an opportunity of conceiving and managing events, clubs networking and a host of other co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Bioshots In our endeavour to spread Biotech Awareness among people, we have initiated this magazine. "BIOSHOTS-Unfolding Mystery" is a complete guide which would generate curiosity and interest among people towards Biotechnology. Under this magazine, we have tried our best to cover all the sections that form a part of a successful piece of writing.
Biorebel It is the name given to the events organized to break the tedious academic schedules of Biotech Students who have shown their mettle by bagging top university ranks for the institute year after year. Various types of events are organized under this programme.
Biotech Students are the front runners and trend setters in all the fields for the institute. It is no surprise that the students of the biotechnology department have bagged a large number of prizes for the institute in various technical and cultural fests held in various parts of the country.
Sahyog Under the aegis of our Biotech Society EUKARYA we have started a unique programme 'SAHYOG' as a gesture of thanks to the society who has given us so much. We are working for the cause of unprivileged children in the nearby villages of Motemajra, Tangori, Bhagomajra & Manakpur.
Expert Lecture on Interview Jitters at Arm’s Length An expert lecture was delivered by Mr. Vinod Kumar Singh, Manager (HR), Dabur Pharma Limited on interview jitters at arm’s length on 13 April, 2007. He gave practical interview tips to help us ace our job and emphasized on the importance of body language during an interview. National Service Scheme SUSIBT does not restrict itself only to achieving academic and technical excellence, but also initiates a lot of social activities, for the benefit of the society. NSS unit of the college is very active in fields like blood donation, awareness programmes on female foeticide, abuse of drugs and environmental issues. If SUSIBT students work hard, they also play with equal energy and enthusiasm. From community service to performing arts, from sports to student governance, the students of this college take active part in dozens of activities beyond the classrooms. At SUSIBT, community service is an integral part of a student's life. The students are motivated to participate in some form of public service during their time on campus and even after it; because they are made to believe that they can make a difference-to communities, to individuals and in their own intellectual and personal lives. The following services are rendered to the adjoining villages and the community at large on a regular basis under the aegis on NSS.
Blood Donation Camp Blood donation camps are a bi-annual feature of the college which is organized in collaboration with PGI and Govt. Medical College, Chandigarh. These camps draw an overwhelming response from the students and the staff of the college and they voluntarily donate blood in large numbers. The college receives appreciation certificates from PGI, Chandigarh every year for being an exceptional institutional blood donor. Socio-Economic Survey A large number of students of this college conduct socio-economic survey of Tangori and Motemajra villages, which fall in the vicinity of this college. Through this survey, one can find at a glance the lack of certain basic facilities/amenities, which are required to be made available to them. Accordingly arrangements are made to provide all such facilities. Pulse-Polio Drive A large number of students of this college participate in Pulse Polio Drives undertaken by the administration at various places such as Chandigarh, Mohali and Patiala from time to time. They help the authorities by identifying the children and administering them with the required doses.
Tree Plantation In order to sensitize students about global environmental concerns, tree plantation activity is undertaken twice a year in the college. The students plant various saplings and are motivated to nurture the plants grown by them. Adult Education To make a humble contribution in way of achieving the National target of popularizing elementary education, the college has adopted two adjoining villages, where students impart basic education to the illiterate adults and the school drop-outs. 'Sahyog' a voluntary students association of the college is rendering commendable services to the adjoining villages in eradicating illiteracy. Our student volunteers also train the rural youth in basic computer applications.
Games & Sports Sports is an important activity, which has to be carried out to take care of the all round development of the students to inculcate a sense of healthy competition amongst them. The college has developed a good infrastructure for outdoor games like Cricket, Football, Hockey, Basketball, Handball and Volleyball. Facilities for indoor games like Chess, Carrom, Badminton and Table Tennis have also been made available to the students. Knowing the importance of sports in today's scientific era, the college lays emphasis on the students’ participation in various sports, to ensure the shaping of the overall personality, health and fitness of an individual student.
Career & Psychological Counseling Career talks are invited from professionals and experts in industries for guiding and counseling students to help them adopt the right course of action in academics, jobs and choice of careers, after completion of degree course. Besides career counseling, students are also provided with psychological counseling by highly trained professionals or counselors to help them cope up with various stresses of life to and make effective adjustments with the environment. |
